Week Sixteen

Emmett's always been a climber. He scampered away as I was trying to dress him after bath and he managed to climb up on the couch by himself. It took quite a bit of effort. Once he made it he stood up and beat his chest in celebration, Tarzan style. He was so proud of himself!

P.S. His diapers do not normally hang to his knees. This was his super soaker night time diaper stuffed to the max.

Egg Hunt

Since we didn't get to hide our freshly colored eggs on Easter we had a mini egg hunt Monday evening mainly to appease Miles and to give me a decent excuse to dress the boys up and take pictures.

Emmett wasn't any more enthusiastic about hunting eggs this week than he was last week. He found one egg and then he was done.

Miles found the other 11 and he enjoyed egg hunting so much that he hid plastic eggs inside for me to find later that evening.

While I was taking pictures of Miles finding eggs Emmett was discovering the grass in his basket.

Miles got a pinwheel in his Easter basket and he was delighted to see it spinning in the breeze.

While I was taking pictures of Miles with his pinwheel Emmett was taste testing the day old boiled eggs that sat out all night, shell and all.

I wiped the blue dye from Emmett's mouth and sat them down to get one good picture together.

Happy Easter

It was a really good thing that we had our big Easter party last week because it rained all day long on Easter. We hung out in sweat pants, colored eggs, and played with Easter basket goodies.

One for the Record Books

In celebration of Earth Day a local cloth diapering organization put together an event to raise awareness and we were lucky enough to participate. The Guinness Book of World Records was on hand for the Great Cloth Diaper Change in OKC as we joined with babies and parents around the globe to set the world record for the most cloth diapers changed simultaneously. I was excited that Emmett got to be a part of this event since I love cloth so much.

The event was held at the OKC Science Museum so we stayed and played.

Setting world records is very tiring.

Week Fifteen

It's not the best picture, but I love the moment it captured. Miles offered Emmett a ride in the doll stroller and Emmett agreed. I helped him climb in thinking he would want right back out. Instead he settled in and let Miles push him through the house. Miles would stop periodically and lean over Emmett to ask, "you having fun?" Emmett would smile and Miles would push on.

Mud

It's amazing that we have mud since we haven't had any rain. It was unusually warm on Monday and Miles begged to play in the sprinkler. He found a little dirt patch right by a sprinkler head that was collecting a lot of water and he started splashing. He let his little toes squish into the mud and had it squeezing through his fingers. Emmett joined in and before long we had two very filthy boys. I called it a night right about the time Emmett got a face full courtesy of Miles.

Egg Hunt

Sunday we had family over for an early Easter dinner and egg hunt. I stuffed 166 eggs plus some people brought more so I'm sure we hid well over 200 eggs.

Emmett wasn't interested. He found one egg, got the toy out of it and then sat down to play. Luckily there were some sweet older cousins who were helping out the babies. Now that he has the idea I think we'll try a smaller hunt with just us next week.

Miles loved it. He was keyed up all day in anticipation. I kept telling him the party was after nap so he actually tried to put himself to bed around 11am. Thankfully the event did not disappoint...he ate junk, hunted eggs like a pro, and played well into the evening.

Week Fourteen

At least a couple times a week Miles gifts me with "flowers" he's picked from the yard. He immediately gets them in water and treats them with the utmost care. It's such a sweet gesture and a reminder that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Week Thirteen

It's amazing how someone so small can make such a huge mess with one cookie.

Weekend Fun

Casey had a much needed vacation so we spent a three day weekend packed full of family fun. On Friday we drove to Seminole and spent the morning at the Jasmin Moran Children's Museum. I figured a weekday might be better than a weekend, but with all the school groups I think we might plan for a weekend next time. We still had a great time despite the crowds and the boys loved it. I can't wait to go back!

Sunday we headed out to the zoo and saw the new elephant exhibit. Man, is that area nice! It's so much bigger than I thought it would be and we had great views of the elephants.

It was crazy windy on Sunday so that afternoon we decided to try flying a kite. On the bright side we had absolutely no trouble getting the kite up, but the wind was so strong that the kite was really hard to control and in the end the wind got the best of our little kite. Luckily it was a cheap one!

Week Twelve

Taken at this week's outing to the Oklahoma Science Museum. It was a chilly day, but we ventured out briefly because Miles wanted to see "the beautiful garden." I love that he spotted it from our lunch table, I love that he insisted in seeing it up close, and it really was a pretty spot with tons of spring color.
