It Only Takes a Minute

I left this to go change Emmett's diaper. It looks good right? See how he's colored specific items in the picture, a real progression from the haphazard brush strokes of his baby days.

I returned to this. When I asked why he smeared black paint on himself and his picture he said, "because it's dark in space." Fair enough.

This is Emmett eating an oreo last week. He did that with one cookie.

Week Seven

I took a lot of pictures this week so it was hard to chose a favorite. I'm going with a series of pictures I ended up with after a rousing game of "don't peek at my camera." Turns out that reverse psychology works quite well.

Valentine Fun

Miles is getting to the age where he really appreciates holidays.

This weekend I made heart shaped soft pretzels with cinnamon and sugar. They were fun to make and very tasty. Miles kept saying he wanted "regular pretzels" so I'm not sure he fully appreciated the non standard shape.

We did small Valentine gifts for each kid and because Emmett can't eat candy I tried to focus on non-edible treats. Miles got a cute heart themed animal book and Emmett got his first lovey.

Having just recently discovered the wonderful world of applique I had to make the kids some Valentine's t-shirts. I put a number on the back of Miles' so he would agree to wear it.

We had to forgo our usual Valentine's Day strawberry pancakes since it was a work day. Instead I packed a Valentine themed lunch with a heart shaped sandwich, watermelon and red pepper dippers.

Miles Loves...

I want the kids to know what each holiday is about, why we celebrate, what we celebrate, etc. This weekend Miles and I did a Valentine's twist to a gratitude tree where Miles made hearts and I asked him for people/things he loves to label each heart. It's a cute decoration and I loved these adorable answers. These last two pictures are tied for my favorites from this week. I just love how his little mind works.

Bring on the Sun!

In typical Oklahoma fashion the coldest weekend of the year was followed by a weekend filled with sun and temps in the 60s. We got out and enjoyed the weather at the park along with half of Oklahoma City. There was still some snow on the ground in spots, but for the most part we are snow free!

Week Six

Emmett's baby blues get a lot of attention because it's unique for our family. I however never under estimate the beauty of deep brown. Miles has Casey's eyes and I love the deep dark brown.

More Snow!

I've been home from work since Monday and only got out once for a grocery run Friday morning. It's been a long week partly because we were snowed in and partly because we've all been sick. Luckily by Saturday the sun was shinning and we were all on to the less grouchy stages of our colds. We made sure to get out and play in the snow several times on Saturday and we were pleased that the melting was perfect for snowballs and snowmen.

Snow Days & Week 5

We got a huge bunch of snow Monday night and have been stuck inside ever since. We are literally stuck as we have deep drifts of snow blocking both ends of our street. We're getting bored. We ventured outside briefly Monday and Tuesday to check out the yard. Miles really wants a snowman, but it's too powdery. We made homemade hot chocolate on Monday and made our own play dough on Tuesday. We've got cabin fever another snow day tomorrow. My week 5 favorite is the last picture of this bunch.
