Myriad Gardens

We headed out early to beat the heat and spent the morning at the newly renovated Myriad Gardens. It was a fun family outing and the still in progress Children's Garden look fabulous.

As it turns out Oklahoma set a record for hottest month in recorded U.S. history this July and we're still suffering. It's been brutal. We've been inside. Temperatures have been triple digits pretty much every day for the last several weeks. And then it rained. The rain was a spectacle. It was like we had all forgotten what rain was. People were outside just watching and we were too. It wasn't just a little sprinkle, it was a heavy downpour and we enjoyed every minute of it.

Week 30

Our garden has survived despite the brutal heat and it's producing just enough to make it an exciting endeavor for the boys. We've got watermelon, honey dew, cantaloupe, herbs, cucumbers and baby tomatoes producing. It's an organic garden so some bug damage is inevitable. Recently I had been noticing that my parsley which was previously thriving looks like it has been mowed down. It wasn't just nibbled, it was almost gone. It seemed weird and beyond the capabilities of any bug. And this week we found out why. This little guy has been caught in our garden twice now. I'll gladly share my parsley with such a cutie.
