Happy Halloween!

Sunday night we carved our pumpkins. We were short on time so I chose a few simple designs for Miles to pick from. Even still the boys lost interest pretty quickly and I ended up carving by myself. Emmett was willing to help some. Miles didn't want to touch anything icky.





Monday we trick-or-treated in our neighborhood. Miles chose the super hero idea. I initially thought batman and robin would be cute, but Miles didn't like blue and grey. He decided on blue and green and since I couldn't think of an existing superhero in those colors we went with Super Miles. Turns out Super Miles had the temperament of a cranky old lady because after one street Miles decided he was tired. Emmett was loving it so we pulled out the stroller and Miles managed for a couple more houses before announcing that he "already had 30 pieces of candy and was ready to be snug in his bed."

Halloween Carnival

Friday night the boys and I went with a neighbor friend to a Halloween carnival at her church. They had pizza, popcorn, snow cones, and a bunch of candy that they won from carnival games. Miles and Emmett both had a blast!

Happy Birthday Miles!!

Saturday was Miles' 4th birthday, but we waited until Sunday to celebrate so Casey would be home. Miles didn't exactly have a party, but I made some decorations & cupcakes in his requested alien theme and he was perfectly happy. We had Grandma & Grandpa over for family dinner and they gave Miles his first big kid bike. I picked out a rocket kit for one of Miles' gifts and of course he insisted that we launch it immediately even though it was dark outside. I wish it would have been light enough to take pictures of that because we had several mishaps a couple of which ended up with daddy getting sprayed with baking soda and vinegar.

Pumpkin Patch

Saturday morning we hit up the pumpkin patch before Casey headed to work. I love fall and it feels like we are always so busy this time of year so I have to make an extra special effort to cram in all our must do fall activities. We ended up with 4 pumpkins. Miles chose a misshapen one with some scarring on one side that I'm sure the pumpkin patch people thought would never sell. It has a lot of character! It was a fun way to spend Miles' birthday morning.

Disney World

We had another fantastic trip and came back completely exhausted. We tried to schedule in lots of down time, but the boys had other ideas. This was an exciting trip because Miles just hit 40 inches making him tall enough to ride some of the big kid rides. He did Star Tours, Test Track, Soarin', Kali River Rapids, Splash Mountain, and Big Thunder Mountain. Emmett rode plenty too and absolutely adored the characters. I wasn't sure we were going to be able to pull him away from Minnie. We had great weather which was hot, but not miserable and amazingly for Florida we didn't have any rain. We can't wait to go back!




We did a safari theme for Mickey's Not so Scary Halloween Party.


We also enjoyed the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival. In the Greece pavilion they had fried cheese with honey and pistachios which was the best thing we ate all week.





One of the highlights of the trip for the boys is always the fountain in EPCOT. We've learned from experience to just bring extra clothes and let them have at it.

When we met Minnie Emmett was in love. He ran up and hugged her the minute we walked in and he didn't let go until we pulled him away. We could hardly get him to let up on his hug long enough to face the camera. Minnie was pretty tickled.



Emmett received a long overdue first haircut in the Magic Kingdom barber shop. He did great and he looked so grown up without his stray baby hairs.

Annual Fall Party

The Saturday before we left on vacation we attended my aunt April's annual fall party....gorgeous country setting, hot dog roasting, fun fall snacks, tons of room to play, and lot of family fun. It's something we look forward to every year.






In a yard full of toys this small dirt hill was the highlight of the night for my boys.

Monarch Migration

Early each fall as the temperatures up north start dropping monarch butterflies make their way to Mexico often times visiting Oklahoma on their journey south. Since we have several fields of wild flowers near our neighborhood we decided to go on a butterfly expedition. We saw lots of monarchs and had a fun time looking.
